U13's End Season in Style

The SNCC U13's completed their last game of the season on Sunday 14th July with a tough game against unbeaten league winners Sanderstead. Recent results at the tail of the season gave reason for confidence if the team played to their ability - which they duly did.

Put in to bat the team started slowly with the loss of openers Ollie Davison and Jake Griffiths early on before 'Player of the Season' Finlay Bate pitched in with an unbeaten 30 (his third of a great season). Mylo Pople 'Batsman of the Season' decided to go one better with an unbeaten 33 to set a strong base for the team with further contributions from Theo Ottley and Harry Mills to push the score to 126/3 off 20 - a great performance.

Expecting a strong response from Sanderstead, the opening bowlers started well restricting the away side to 9 off the first 4 overs and crucially Theo Ottley taking an early wicket due to in large part to a fine take down the leg side by Wicket Keeper Jackson Mouilah. Sanderstead did began to build, but fine fielding all round kept them behind the required run rate and with Captain Seb Broddle rotating his bowlers well he brought back the combination of Mills /Ottley / Bate to bowl out the last 6 overs. And successful it was - 7 wickets falling in the last six overs as Sanderstead were reduced from 62/1 to 87/8, Mills (2) Ottley (4) Bate (1). The captain himself with a fine run out and catches around the team.

A fine win to end the season leaving SNCC mid table within Tier 2, given the number of U12's playing up even more impressive.

The coaches are really proud of the continued progress, spirit and positive behaviours and hope everyone enjoyed the season. At the awards night the following week Harry Mills picked up Bowler of the Year for his 12 wickets, and Miles Fleet Coaches Award for all round general improvement, closely pipping Alfie Russell.
